Fracking News

Three earthquakes in North Texas last night makes eleven since June 5th

July 13, 2012 By TXsharon

For comments on the M3.3 frackquake in Irving 11/22/14 click HERE.

Update: I see three notices of earthquakes. One 2.1M, one 2.8M and this 2.7M. I’m not sure if there were actually 3 quakes last night or if one is a correction. I will try to sort it all out and get back to you.

Update 2: None of the earthquake notices are corrections, all are preliminary. I bet people in that area will need extra coffee today. What a night that must have been.

There was an were three earthquake after midnight in the same area. By my count that makes 9 11 for this same area since June 5th. I saw some tweets last week about a quake that “rattled the china” but I found nothing on the USGS site to confirm that.

Correction: see the comments for better information from a resident in the area. The USGS is whacked!

Event Page for 2.7M – around 7:00 AM on 7/13/12

Event Page for 2.1M – last night which would be 7/12/12

Event Page for 2.8M – July 10th around noon. (Is this NOT the same as the 2.4 quake on July 10th)

  • 2.3M June 5th
  • 3.1M June 15th with map
  • 2.6M June 23rd with maps
  • 3.5M June 24th
  • 2.6M June 26th
  • 2.3M June 30th
  • 2.7M July 6th with map
  • 2.4M July 10th with maps

From State Impact: More on the Science Linking Fracking Disposal Wells to Earthquakes. Another State Impact article has some nice maps of the area.

Again, I urge you: Gas Patch residents who live in zones of extraction should routinely document the condition of their foundations and walls. This documentation may be important one day for a class action suit like the one in Arkansas.

Mini quakes help to relieve stress and prevent major ones. Maybe we should drill injection wells alone the San Andreas fault to relieve stress and reduce the chance of a major quake in the L.A. area.

It will be interesting to see if anything happens to the aquifers in Johnson county.

I guess if they are unable to get water from their wells they can always use their riches from the gas wells to buy water because we are all “SHALEIONAIRES” right?

There were not 3 quakes night. There was one. (the 2.1). the 2.7 was around 7 this morning . And the 2.8 happened at just before noon on July 10th. I sent u a Facebook message about that one and a time correction on the 2.7 that copied on Tue 9th bit was listed on the 10 because it was on universal time not central us time, though I am sure u get was to many messages to keep up with. Not sure which site u use for ur info but I live on the outskirts of alvarado right by keene where they are occurring I assure you this is correct. The Usgs doesn’t always update right away for.some reason they just listed the one for the 10th. I have a link with a accurate list. I always check both the Usgs and this one. I also started checking the local siesmograph just out of curiosity. Thanks to you I have started keeping am eye on my walls since I am right at the epicenter. Hope this link helps aid you in your cause! 🙂

This is weird. What the heck is wrong with the USGS? Thanks for the information. That link is awesome.

If I were you, I would take pictures of the foundation and every wall on the outside and do the same for the inside. Take pictures of your ceiling. Do that once a month and keep good records because you may need it one day.

Please stay in touch. You can contact me using the Contact Me link in the menue at the time. These are interesting times…
