Fracking News

During the worst drought on record, an act of hope…

September 27, 2011 By TXsharon

I always think something I’m doing is going to make a difference…such a hopeful idiot.

So I made some rain barrels, gave them a makeover and got them ready for rain.

I’m not sure about the color…thought it would match the brick better. I think I need to sponge on some tan and gray and make it a really fancy rain barrel. It will rain again someday.

In the meantime, Lake Benbrook is so low people are having to mow around their boat slips.

Texas Water Development Board says get ready for water riots.

“The primary message of the 2012 state water plan is a simple one,” the introduction states. “In serious drought conditions, Texas does not and will not have enough water to meet the needs of its people, and its businesses, and its agricultural enterprises.”

Maybe the TWDB should stop playing footsies with the oil and gas industry and try to get to the bottom of their water usage.

The shear lack of water in Wyoming is forcing frackers there to recycle most of their water for their reuse. So, it is possible to do.

I went to a local community forum on water. I thought it would talk about what to do to conserve water, but it was various Texas water agency representatives and LCRA running on about how great they are essentially. In the comment period, I stood up and said that when my ground water was ruined by fracking, the Texas water quality agency said that wasn’t what they were about and referred me to the useless Tx. Railroad Com. I said I was weary of Texas agencies that did nothing to help the people they supposedly represented. In this conservative county, I got great applause and was the only one making a comment that got one.

Good for you. Sometimes people don’t realize how fed up they are until someone else speaks out.

[…] 3 has quite a few additional restrictions but I don’t mind conserving water. That’s why I put up two rain barrels and why I will install one at every down spout. Last week we got .14″ of rain and it […]
