Snake Bite: My dog. Part 5

August 18, 2007 By TXsharon

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Elle got to come home from the hospital for the weekend but she has to go back on Monday. She’s glad to be home and we’re happy to have her with us. She is still in a great deal of pain and only wants to lie very still. She is staying in her crate most of the time. I’m so glad that I crate trained her when she was a puppy. It’s been handy for all the times I needed to keep her confined after her surgeries or when she was injured.

My vet bill was quite reasonable, in fact, it seems rather low. But, my vet is not one to hang it in you like some. She tries to be very fair.

Here are some pictures I took when I was giving Elle a sponge bath (click to enlarge). I hope this information will be helpful to others. There have been many hits on the other posts from people searching for information about dogs and snake bites.

I am glad that Elle is on the mend. It is a good thing she is home with her people. Incidentally, I have had to put down 2 dogs and 1 cat and Margaret has never charged me for any of those visits. However, I have always made a contribution to cover the bill of an animal who did not have an owner who could or would.

    I’m touched. You’re very thoughtful.

Thank you. However, you and I both know, much is required of those with much. I have been blessed with options and feel obliged to afford options to others. So long as I provide options to others I too will always have options.

What you say is true and, when I had much, I also afforded options to others. Now, I don’t have much but I am resourceful and I believe I will come out of this.

The difference and what makes me think highly of you (one of the many things) is that not all people with much do as you do.

Incidentally, I just read your “compliment” at Barry’s with regard to the Think Frustrated nonsense. I laughed so hard I nearly choked to death. I may have bruises after such kind words. Matter of fact I am still giggling. I truly appreciate a woman with an acid wit. It must be the British part of my upbringing that enables me to appreciate brutal humour.

Thank you for jumping into the fray on my behalf. You never know whether that pack of mean dogs will turn on you just for saying something nice.

That they are so transparently green with envy over you causes me much amusement. However, when I think deeper, it’s so damn pathetic that I find myself pitying them. It’s not pathetic in the sense that you aren’t worthy of their envy but pathetic in that they don’t have something else in their lives on which to expend energy. Sheesh!
