I’m back from fracking hell

August 26, 2015 By TXsharon

Eagle Ford Shale

I’ve spent most of this month in fracking hell in the Eagle Ford Shale. Most of the time, I was without an Internet connection and only had spotty cell reception so I’m out of it on several levels. It’s hard to get back in stride again when there’s so much going on.

It’s especially hard to get back in stride again when you have a magic camera that makes the invisible visible. Seeing is believing, even when you want to deny.

The magnitude of crap (methane and volatile organic compounds) blasting into our Texas air from Karnes County oil and gas facilities is inconceivable.

still

It’s discouraging because we will never get a handle on climate change with this happening. And it’s depressing because the industry and our regulators know this crap is blasting into our air. Every molecule of methane will be in our atmosphere for 100 years. For the first 20 years, it will have 86 times more Global Warming Potential (GWP) than CO2. Using methane to stop climate change is like using leeches to stop anemia.

The hitchhikers that come with the methane make people sick.

This is all such a tragedy and so immoral.

I will have dozens of FLIR videos that show releases that last for days and are still going weeks later.

While I pull myself out of the fracking hell funk, please consider that this sweet little donkey who lives in the Eagle Ford Shale needs clean air too.

    Welcome back Sharon

That FLIR image. Is that a daytime or night time shot?

It’s probably night but I don’t remember. I took video over several days and I’m putting the video from each facility all in one video with the date and whether it was taken during the day or at night. I’ll have the videos up today or tomorrow if luck holds out.

I worry that you, personally, are getting too exposed by spending so much time with this murderers. Is it OK as long as you stay up-wind of the methane? I don’t think so. We need you to be safe, Sharon.

I get some exposures but if I’m in danger I leave. Thanks for the concern.

Who looks at the problem of where this NG/LNG product is used and sold.

      Me. All the time. http://www.texassharon.com/2015/04/28/hb-40-because-lng-exports/

They plan to turn the U.S. into an extraction colony. Not hyperbole.

I don’t think you quite understand how fracking works, I understand your concerns about the LNG plants, which can be dangerous, but fracking is completely safe, give me one thing that is unsafe about it

Yeah, you’re probably right. What could a dumb girl from Texas know about fracking? Certainly not as much as a guy from Australia.

I hear ya. They don’t hardly frac in Texas … Alberta neither. The ignorance is stunning.

“but fracking is completely safe, give me one thing that is unsafe about it”

According to your Australian Petroleum Association; they’re gonna bugger your drinking water. Sounds “unsafe” to me.

“Australian Petroleum Association: Coal seam damage to water inevitable:

The coal seam gas industry has conceded that extraction will inevitably contaminate aquifers. ‘Drilling will, to varying degrees, impact on adjoining aquifers,’ said the spokesman, Ross Dunn. ‘The intent of saying that is to make it clear that we have never shied away from the fact that there will be impacts on aquifers,’ Mr Dunn said.

Ignore that confession at your own peril … hope you don’t have kids depending on you.

          “You are priceless.”

No you are, and very busy generously doing important things for many people, I see. Thanks for that, and your great posts.

          Have a lovely day 😉
