Artists Against Fracking new protest song by Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon and Jimmy Fallon

July 14, 2012 By TXsharon

Yesterday Yoko Ono announced a new group, Artists Against Fracking.

Yoko Ono, Sean Ono Lennon and Jimmy Fallon preformed their new song “Don’t Frack My Mother” on the Jimmy Fallon show last night. See the full interview.

A personal note from me: People on the fracking front lines everywhere stand in solidarity with the people in New York in your pursuit of a ban on fracking. We agree that your water is precious and is “one the most bountiful natural water tables in North America.” There are those of us who have already seen our equally precious and once bountiful water contaminated and depleted  from fracking. We do not want to see that happen to your water in New York.

Just as important, we do not want to continue being sacrificed to shale oil and gas. For over a decade, gas from the Barnett Shale in Texas, where I live, has warmed the people in New York during your harsh winters. I hold no grudge and most Texans I know feel the same. While we stand in solidarity with you, we only ask that you also stand in solidarity with us. Your ban should not come at our expense.

If one of us gets fracked, we are all fracked!

A-f*cking-men! Sharon, your statement is generously diplomatic. We need Josh Fox and all national enviro groups to not forget about Texas and other shale plays in their campaign messages.

New Yorkers are with you Sharon.

My town (Dryden, NY) enacted a ban which was supported resoundingly in the November elections. But we won only a small battle in this world-wide struggle.

Most of us are continuing to work beyond our town, beyond our county, state, and region. As you said above, “If one of us gets fracked, we are all fracked!”

We got your back Texas. You got ours.

Yay for Dryden! Come to the Stop the Frack Attack rally in DC on 7.28.12. It begins in DC then spreads. NY is the next stop.
