Making a silk purse from a sow’s ear

September 6, 2011 By TXsharon

Tonight several people sent me a text message asking what I was doing. I replied: Trying to make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. They had no clue what I meant. It’s an old Hindu idiom.

Trying to fool people into thinking a dirty fossil fuel is clean energy is trying to turn a silk purse into a sow’s ear. Putting lipstick on a pig has the same meaning.

I think I came closer to the silk purse than the Big Gas Mafia. What do you think?

Making people think dirty fuel is clean energy is trying to turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse, not the other way around.
