Texas drought and hydraulic fracturing

August 26, 2011 By TXsharon

Listen to this NPR story on the Texas drought: Drought Puts Texas Ranchers, And Cattle, At Risk.

Then listen to this NPR story on the Texas drought: Texas Drought Takes Its Toll On Wildlife.

Then listen to this woman in Laredo speaking to her city council.

The water from fracking one well would probably keep that 70+ year-old rancher and his cattle going for a while longer.

What on earth are we doing?

I’ll vote for her. This shale gas business is not going to stop until the water is all gone.

TXSharon, Tarrant Regional Water District (supplies water to Arlington, Fort Worth, Mansfield and the Trinity River Authority) will put in place Stage 1 Drought Contingency Plan on Monday, August 29, 2011.

NO mention in their plan of restrictions on shale gas drilling activities. Maybe we should call the Communication Manager. Inquiring minds want to know. Why no mention of restrictions on gas drilling activities??

I wonder if any of her councilpeople work indirectly for the industry and have a conflict of interest in permitting every one in. http://www.peycosouthwest.com/zoningMineralConsult.html
Arlington Councilman Robert Rivera a landman? No wonder he votes in all these drill sites!

So, Grand Prairie bans use of city water for fracking because of the drought. So what does CHK do? Scam the water off Arlington and truck it to Grand Prairie!

The fine to CHK? MAYBE $2000. Big whoop.
