Gas drilling makes people sick in Co and NM

July 13, 2011 By TXsharon

Count to three and pretend to be surprised. All together now: 1, 2, 3…

New Report Reveals Toxic Air Near Natural Gas Operations

The lab detected a total of 22 toxic chemicals in the air samples, including four known carcinogens, as well as toxins known to damage the nervous system and respiratory irritants. The chemicals detected ranged from 3 to 3,000 times higher than what is considered safe by state and federal agencies.

No, those aren’t the results from the Fort Worth air study that is supposed to be released today. These results are from Colorado and New Mexico.

It’s the same everywhere.

We would be wise to insist on this report's recommendations wherever they're drilling for gas.

"Current natural gas production and processing sites should have air monitors near all operations and equipment. All data should be made available to the public."
