Gov. Perry appoints crony to Texas Railroad Commission

July 8, 2011 By TXsharon

I know you will find this shocking, Dear Readers, but our governor has appointed a crony to the Texas Railroad Commission.

Insert face with shocked look.

Barry Smitherman has been one of Rick Perry’s main energy policy advisors.

"I look forward to working with Chairman Jones and Commissioner Porter in tackling the issues facing the Railroad Commission." – oh, there are a _few_ issues over here. Try to remember you work for society and not one singular industry.

The issues he means are getting permits out fast enough, ficilating water usage, finding places to spread the drilling waste…stuff like that.

Just another leader of a very dangerous and bad tax payer funded state agency. The RRC need to be taken off of public funding–the RRC should be allowed to go to the O&G and other polluters to solicit their funding–a lot of tax money will be saved–AND NOTHING will change!!

They are having a few problems getting permits out fast these days with all of the Rule 37's delaying some permits up to a year.

This is the one that made me laugh,

"Barry’s strong leadership at the Texas Public Utility Commission helped make Texas energy and telecommunications markets stronger and more affordable, and served the best interests of Texas consumers and families."

I haven't seen ONE thing done to protect my BEST INTEREST when it comes to TX Energy.
