Hilcorp Energy Company gas well head blew off Thursday in Maurice, LA killing one emoloyee and injuring others. Neighbors live very close to this well.
In Beaumont a drilling rig caught fire. It caused a small wildfire.
Gas vapor began to escape from the well, which triggered a flash fire followed by an explosion, according to Trooper Stephanie Davis with the Texas Department of Public Safety. The explosion happened around 1:15 p.m.

TxSharon can you please report on Obama's renewable energy speech that was given recently? The propaganda machine is whirling at full tilt. And all the articles are dutifully glossing over the dangers of "clean burning" Natural Gas. Wall Street Journal, which I hate but read anyway for the bias they give, parroted the age old fracturing has been safe since the 40's bullshit. You know the article is compromised when instead of listing hydrofracking as a combination of water, sand, and chemicals they say water, sand , and a small amount of chemicals. Watch the EPA do nothing now that the Obama administration has hailed our messiah the great bridge fuel to nowhere.
