URGENT! Dirty, Rotten SB 875 scheduled for public hearing Tuesday

March 18, 2011 By TXsharon

This is how it’s done. They schedule the public hearing for Tuesday and don’t notify us until the last minute on Friday. That way working people can’t get off and get to Austin to protest.

Who wants to go to Austin Tuesday morning–very early–to attend this public hearing?

This bill will strip away any chance you have for recourse if industry’s pollution trespasses onto your property.

SB 875
Relating to compliance with state and federal environmental permits.
Scheduled for public hearing on 3/22/2011
pollution trespass

If you haven’t taken action against this bill yet, please do so now. It only takes a couple of minutes.

TAKE ACTION NOW!

This is what they do. This how they do it. Most of the Texas legislators haven't seen this industry up close. They haven't seen the deceptive business practices going on in our neighborhoods and communities. They have no business voting on any of this when they only know what this shale gas industry tells them.

Frankly, I'm tired of going to Austin to defend rights I am supposed to have already. Why don't some of those bills authors come up here for a change and they can see what it's like first hand to be sacrificed to the shale.

If this bill passes, I'm going after the gas execs homes. Oh, don't worry, it will all be perfectly legal, I'm no idiot. You would be surprised how you can toy with the noise ordinances and these execs will soon feel our pain (noise).

Welcome to crooked and corrupt polotics and poloticians in Texas. It's rotten from the basement of the Booger County courthouse to the top of the DOME in Austin–rotten!

You are so right Anomous 7:29. Why do we always have to go to Austin for NO RESULTS! If the crooked politians want to know what we the peasants want, all they have to do is think about what they want, and then do the opposite!

How come there aren't any sponsors listed for this bill? I guess they can't really list the shale gas industry. Bur really, why not?

I don't know why there are no cosponsors but I suspect it is because Fraser has had no viable competition for his position in any election for years. So why should he care what we think? He has 1.2 million in his campaign war chest that he uses to augment his lifestyle. (See TX Observer article, "Lifestyles of the corrupt and elected.") Unlike some of the others, Craig Estes, for example who also uses campaign money to augment his lifestyle, Fraser does not have to worry about getting reelected since no one will run against him.

Anon @11:33 PM: When it comes to politicians "helping" we, the peasants, when the "politicians" are they, the Republicans, well it's difficult to realize that our locally elected representatives go to Austin and with little hesitation turn their backs on their communities and their fellow Texans struggling with the shale gas attack. Industry gets to them quite easily in Austin while we are back in our communities believing our Republican reps care what we think about all of it. Rude awakenings are plentiful and hard to accept especially for some of our group's Republicans who can't understand why Republican reps are not acting forcefully to protect our property values and health.

I don't want to take my precious vacation time to run down to Austin either. So, why in blue blazes do you folks keep electing these yahoos?

The only really good bills I've seen this session came from Wendy Davis and Lon Burnam as it was last session.

Get a fracking clue! Would ya?

Please sign my petition to email the Texas State legislature that this power grab is not the American way, everyone deserves due process and their day in court:
