Mobilisation nationale contre le gaz de schiste en Ardèche
Some French journalists recently visited the Barnett Shale. I don’t think they much liked what they saw. I don’t read French but I can tell from the picture that people are pissed off and I know what 8,000 – 10,000 personnes and du gaz means.

Quick! Get into a time machine and start protesting hydraulic fracturing in 2005, cause that's how on the ball the French would have been.

No matter, they are onto it now! It's a great country for staging revolutions.

thanks for publishing this – we need all the help we can get.
RIOTS – not quite. I was there with a few friends. It was a very moving experience to see so many people who actuallly care.
We had to walk over 5 km because of so many cars. So at least 20,000 people!
It was more of a festival atmosphere than anything else.
The drilling machines have arrived in nearby ports – destined to drill in the national parcs of the Cevenne and Larzac.
These very beautiful and rare natural resources where people still live from the land, and you can drink the water from streams and springs could be ruined for a long time.
Most of the water supplies to people homes in this area comes from springs.
Let us hope the madness stops.

Oh no! You can't let this happen over there! People and animals will get sick because it ruins your air and your water. It creates MASSIVE amounts of toxic and radioactive waste that they don't know what to do with. They tell you it's good fertilizer then spread it on the farm and ranch land. This is a very destructive process.
Then come the pipelines all over the place and the processing plants.
Have more protests and don't let it get started.

I think ypu'll be interested to know that the french government who had first authorized the drilling has suspended all authorizations pending the conclusions of a scientific study, and that the majority group in the parliament has asked for an emergency meeting on the 10th of may to ban any non-conventional fuel exploitation in France requiring vertical and horizontal fracturing. It should pass because everyone is afraid of this technique after seeing "Gasland". So many thanks to Mr Fox from France.
