I’ll take my benzene straight up with a splash

February 16, 2011 By TXsharon

…of toluene and a squeeze of carbon disulphide. Please salt the rim with some formaldehyde. And, while I enjoy imbibing this concoction, I would like to peruse the study that says this cocktail is safe.

Air tests prove drilling danger, Fort Worth residents say

You have to remember that an air test is just one snapshot in time. Other times the snapshot could be even worse.

"Out of 57 gas drilling sites tested, the study revealed that two of them were releasing more chemicals than legally allowed"
    Let's see ,doing the math:
2wells/57Twells*100%= 3.5%BadWells so for every 1,000 wells in the Barnett Shale: 1,000wells/100%*3.5%=35BadWells
    NOT GOOD!

The city is spinning this thing hard. These sites, particularly the Chesapeake site were in GROSS violation of TCEQ permits. And NO ONE KNEW ABOUT IT. That is the best argument I know for on-going monitoring for the life of these facilities.
Further toxics were found at the majority of sites which tells us that thousands of new point sources are now spewing which were not there before.

They are trying to say the problems at the wells are not common but that is baloney. There are constantly problems at these well sites. If they could control the emissions without mandated control technology they would.

I think we should call that drink a Mikie or a Moncrief.

If it wasn't so sad in this country with the oil and gas industry that benzene drink might get a chuckle. Keep up the good work!

All I can think of here is Flower Mound Town Council Member Mike Wallace, stating about a year ago, "Just show me one shred of evidence that these facilities are harmful" Well Mikey, here's your shred, conducted by the City of Forth Worth. The gas companies KNEW the test was going to happen and they still couldn't or refused to control their facilities. What do you need next Mikey, dead kids?

I pray to God that he let the Devil come and take away those rotten souls that sell out Texas for nickel and dime to get that damned gas out of the ground while pouring toxins into Texas soil.
