Flower Mound Barnett Shale facility petition

February 8, 2011 By TXsharon

Here we go again…

Flower Mound has a moratorium in place to prohibit gas companies from applying for a permit to put centralized facilities in our town,BUT this moratorium EXPIRES SOON and our gas ordinance still does not have safeguards in place to protect us. Once the moratorium is lifted, Flower Mound will be vulnerable once again to the threat of gas companies moving these large industrial facilities into our town – close to our homes, businesses and schools.

Click here to sign the petition.

The Williams Argyle Gas Processing Plant is also called a “central facility.” Williams is unable or unwilling to control their emissions and you do not want to live with this kind of misery.

FYI, I signed the petition to provide the Council with evidence of ongoing public support in their stance to oppose CCFs in Flower Mound. In my conversations with Council members, I am confident that Flower Mound Mayor Northern and Council Members Filidoro, Lyda, and Hayden (NFLH) do NOT want a CCF in Flower Mound.

The Advisory Board is just that — an ADVISORY Board. The Council will take their recommendations seriously, but if they see that changes are needed they can and should make them. One such issue is addressing CCFs. Council was surprised that the Advisory Board did not address CCFs. Council has no intention of simply disregarding the issue because the Advisory Board did not make a recommendation. NFLH will see to it that the new ordinance will address the CCF issue.

Remember: NFLH was opposed to a CCF before there was a petition drive. They have remained steadfast in their opposition.

That said, I encourage you to sign the petition to show your continued opposition to a CCF in Flower Mound.
