Hydraulic Fracturing: 16,031,927 gallons of diesel used for fracking in Texas

January 31, 2011 By TXsharon

Frackers cannot be trusted. That is why they need FEDERAL regulation.

Waxman, Markey, and DeGette Investigation Finds Continued Use of Diesel in Hydraulic Fracturing Fluids

Today Reps. Henry A. Waxman, Edward J. Markey, and Diana DeGette sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson regarding the results of an investigation into the use of diesel fuel in hydraulic fracturing fluids.

The congressional investigation finds that oil and gas service companies have injected over 32 million gallons of diesel fuel or hydraulic fracturing fluids containing diesel fuel in wells in 19 states between 2005 and 2009. In addition, the investigation finds that no oil and gas service companies have sought – and no state and federal regulators have issued – permits for diesel fuel use in hydraulic fracturing, which appears to be a violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Sorry, rotten FRACKERS!

This so-called "diesel" is probably diesel which doesn't meet specifications, then it is mixed with other crap and down the hole it goes for fracking. Quite good for that purpose–BUT, then down it goes and does the chosen chore, and then up it goes to the water aquifers!! Just one way our water is being damaged!

When the exemption was written, diesel was a no-no and remained a no-no. The industry is like the worst boyfriend ever.

If an industry chooses to ignore the only federal regulation placed on it (since all other regulation was omitted) what does that say about these arrogant bastards? But by the time they investigate and find the truth suddenly its not a bombshell.

How is this story not huge right now?!?! How long have we waited for a demonstrable illegality from fracturing to surface?? The three companies who signed a direct pact with the EPA not to use diesel should have their pants sued off and they should be barred from operating in this country. If all of this ends with some petty fine I will be furious. WTF! WHAT DOES THIS INDUSTRY HAVE TO DO TO GET RUN OUT OF THIS COUNTRY!!!!!!!!
