Texas gas stations go un-inspected for decades

September 13, 2010 By TXsharon

This is disturbing on several levels. The latest inspection was signed by Rick Perry.

Rick Perry hasn’t been Agriculture Commissioner since 1998 and those pumps are supposed to be inspected every four years.

Every four years is not often enough, IMO, but this station (and the rumor is there are many more) had not been inspected in over a decade! Texas is in a race to the bottom and we’re our only competition.

The rest of this story is kind of funny. You can read it HERE.

I’m not sure where to look for gas station inspection stickers but, you can bet, I’ll be looking. If you find any that are out of date, give me a shout.

UPDATE: Hank Gilbert wants the inspections to take place every 2 years which sounds much better to me. Brains & Eggs has video.

Inspection stickers are on the pumps themselves, typically on the face of the pump where the nozzle and readouts are. Small circle sticker about the size of a half dollar with a month and year punched out of when last inspection was or expiration, I can't remember.
