Health Survey: Respiratory impacts related to oil and gas chemicals

August 18, 2010 By TXsharon

Wyoming gas-field residents call for Public Health studies related to oil & gas chemicals and drinking water contamination

Pavillion health survey reveals high rate of respiratory impacts affecting residents living amidst water contamination

Joint Release:
Powder River Basin Resource Council * EARTHWORKS’ Oil & Gas Accountability Project

The survey found 94% of participants reported health impacts that are known effects of chemicals identified last year in drinking water wells.

A significant survey finding also includes 81% of participants reporting respiratory ailments. This indicates that a primary pathway of human exposure to chemicals in the area may be occurring through air pathways, such as industrial releases and from showering or washing dishes with contaminated water. Based on the survey, the landowners and groups are calling for regulators to identify the source of contamination, conduct residential and regional air-monitoring, and to implement medical monitoring in which residents with health impacts can receive blood and urine testing.

A health survey of 16 people are you kidding me? From the looks of it one of the people sent back a blank survey. This is some Mickey Mouse stuff at best. The percentages sure look good though.

What? Those 16 people don't count? Oh, dumb question, sorry. Of course they don't count to you and your company because all that counts to you is money.

Just because I haven't outed you, don't think that means I don't know who you are.

If you only have 16 people then you survey those 16 people.

I just finished the Barnett shale health survey with me and my neighbor glad to report 100% healthy. Sharon you are going to out me and know who I am? What difference does that make? I don't have anything to hide. I have a feeling you have the wrong person if you think you will hurt me. Just a person with their own opinions. I think more than 16 ppl live in Wyoming.

Why don't you do a little background reading before you expose your ignorance?

The survey was conducted in Pavillion, WY only. It seems the EPA confirmed drilling toxins in 11 of the wells in the Pavillion, WY area. Pavillion is a TINY town, smaller even than dish.

11 wells contaminated and 16 people seems a decent representation.

Really glad you and your neighbor are healthy but you have no shortage of arrogance and no display of compassion for those less fortunate.

So, you have your own opinion? Let me guess, we shouldn't hold industry accountable for their pollution because:

    A) we are exposed to benzene when we drink sodas
    B) it would only aid the terrorists
    C) it's unpatriotic
    D) jobs/economy
    E) it will kill industry

    What am I missing
