I attended a panel discussion tonight so this post is to make some of the information easily available.
The information about water recycling and pictures of a portable unit can be found HERE. Scroll down past the photos. When you see the picture of the baloney and Kelly Swan’s name, that’s were you start reading about the recycling. Industry calls it desalination or desal.
More information about recycling can be found on David Burnett’s website: Global Petroleum Research Institute. Click on Oil Field Brine Desal.
Devon Energy Presentation about water recycling. It seems Devon is recycling mostly flow back.
If you want to know what’s possible and what we need to work toward read Drill-Right Texas: Best Oil and Gas Development Practices for Texas.
Please sign up for legislative alerts from Texas OGAP, click Join Texas OGAP. When the next legislative session starts, some lucky person–probably me–will read all the bills. Once you are signed up you can send your representative a fax urging him/her to support a good bill or vote against a bad one.
You can see a really neat video of vapor recovery units HERE. Using the best control technology available can cut emissions by 90%. THIS is NOT a vapor recovery unit.
Diagrams, drawn by a petroleum engineer, showing how fracking can cause earthquakes are HERE.
Look for fugitive emission videos in your area HERE.
