BP spill clean-up crews sick

As if we need another example of how exposure to hydrocarbons effects health…

Gulf of Mexico oil spill: clean-up boats recalled after crews suffer health problems
All 125 commercial fishing boats helping oil recovery efforts off Louisiana’s Breton Sound area have been recalled after four workers reported health problems, officials said.

One of the workers had to be evacuated by air ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment, another followed by boat and the other two were transported by ground, the statement added.

In other news about this disaster, it seems there was a heated argument just before the rig blew up.

Big Spat on Rig Preceded Explosion

The argument was over how to begin shutting down the well.

Douglas H. Brown, Transocean’s chief mechanic on the Deepwater Horizon rig, said key representatives from both companies had a “skirmish” during an 11 a.m. meeting on April 20. Less than 11 hours later, the well had a blowout, an uncontrolled release of oil and gas, killing 11 workers.

Linked story missing one very small but very important fact:
BP Not Allowing Clean-Up Workers to Use Respirators.
I guess it would look bad?
