Flower Mound Mayor Jody Smith

UPDATE: Reported HERE first so don’t blame the blogs.

Anti-drilling absolutionists use any means to demonize opposition to get in their way of an extreme left wing agenda that would give all power to the State over the oil/gas industry. The right has their radical anti-abortionists and the left has their anti-drilling extremists.

Mayors and county commissioners understand what happens to an industry that provided the tax base needed for services. Drill right is so extreme, the industry's production costs would not be marketable; therefore, a strong tax base and employer base would be lost.

It should be an honor to be attacked by Sharon Wilson working for Earthworks out of Washington DC. She must be doing the right thing for Flower Mound.

"industry's production costs would not be marketable." Funny, Colorado and New Mexico have adopted better drilling practices. The drilling companies must still be making some money because they are still drilling!
Oh I get it, they just don't have all that extra money laying around to influence politicians and throw into local small town elections like here in Texas.

the mayors and commissioners had best start understanding what happens when the property in their county is rendered worthless and devalued because they allowed heavy industry to mingle with residential resulting in diminished property taxes that make up the bulk of the tax base needed for services.

anon poster, please provide the numbers that back up your claim that using industry best practices would make the product unmarketable. if you do a little bit of research, you will see that the best practices recommended in drill right are already in use by industry in other states. the epa has the hard numbers that shows what the cost to industry is. in many cases, the industry ends up making money from selling product that is currently being lost through leaks.

    "Demonize" Jody Smith?

Don't think so. This is a picture that was on the front page of a local Flower Mound newspaper yesterday.

Documentation of Jody's continued lack of discretion is accomplished by simply reporting on her day-to-day duties. No editorializing required.

    absolutionists

what the hell? no such word. Absolve is what a priest does when he forgives sin.

anonymous commenter is not the sharpest tack.

You're seeing an example of "Drill Wrong" practices right now in the Gulf of Mexico.
