Mansfield denies Range Resources drilling permit

April 29, 2010 By TXsharon

I think Mansfield heard about DoodyGate.

Mansfield council denies gas drilling permit because of previous violations
By BAILEY SHIFFLER

If you don’t play by the rules in Mansfield, Texas, you don’t get to play.

The council voted 7-0 to deny without prejudice Range Production Co.’s request for a special-use permit to drill just east of Texas 360 at Britton Road.

The quick decision came after the council learned that the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to deny Range’s application, which the company did not revise before taking it to the council.

A report written to the commission by city staff recommended rejecting the application because of the violations.

In May, the city notified Range and its attorney of violations, including a lack of permanent access, equipment taller than permitted and an unauthorized line compressor that needed to be removed, the document states.

Mansfield is very tough on drillers. Kudos to James Ruidnicki, Mansfield City Councilman, who is, imho, the most committed elected official in North Texas towards protecting his constituents from these drilling companies.

Well I guess now we can set back and watch the always "threatened" lawsuit arrive in Mansfield! JUST KIDDING! Everyone knows that the lawsuit threat is just a smoke screen for city councils (see Fort Worth) who will support drilling at all costs to the community.

Could it be that the officials in Mansfield are NOT BBO's? This is good news! This is the first I've heard about good acting local officials. Good for you all in Mansfield.

Sorry for the second posting, but just wanted to say that I hope this action in Mansfield is the beginning of an awakening. Perhaps more to come with the outcome of the May 8th elections. How many incumbent politicians that unconditionally support gas drilling will follow Marti VanRavensway and Victor Corrillo?

Looks like it's time to move to Mnafield. We're looking for a cleaner place, anyway. (The county dump is looking good-at least we know what's actually in the dump because there is a grouchy old man who inspects everything that is brought in.)

You're correct, Tim. When Big Gas moves in all you can do is RUN. RUN, RUN, RUN. RUN from Tx. That's one RUN for each point in the Texas star! We RAN from Booger County!
