I’ll have more later but this made me so mad I can’t wait to post it.
Carla Kinslow, TCEQ Toxicology said that there is only about a 1 in 1,000 chance of dying from benzene exposure.
Erm, nice try, Carla, but it’s the CANCER you get from benzene exposure that concerns people facing the realities of a Barnett Shale gas well in their neighborhood for the next 30 years. So, Carla, what are the chances of contracting cancer when exposed to benzene regularly over the next 30 years?
Sheesh! Is that manipulative enough?
UPDATE: I got an email this morning from Calvin Tillman, Mayor of DISH. He said: “I’ve got news for you, 1 in 1000 ain’t that good.”
About Sharon Wilson
Sharon Wilson is considered a leading citizen expert on the impacts of shale oil and gas extraction. She is the go-to person whether it’s top EPA officials from D.C., national and international news networks, or residents facing the shock of eminent domain and the devastating environmental effects of natural gas development in their backyards.

So, at 1 in a 1,000 chance, how many will needlessly die in Texas?
I'd love to see where she said that one.

It was a manipulative statement designed to give people a false sense of safety. The concern is NOT death from benzene exposure. The concern is death/suffering from the cancer you get when you are exposed over time to low levels of benzene emitted from natural gas wells.
The TCEQ needs to cut this crap out! They KNOW that living near natural gas production is hazardous to health.

So this is how our government protects us? By manipulating words to intentionally deceive! The facts do not lie, and people will not be fooled. We just need to create the awareness.
I heard that 60 minutes was at Rayzor Ranch in Denton doing a story on the drilling. Maybe that will help get the exposure we need to get others motivated.

I was at that meeting tonight, and I tell ya …she put her foot in her mouth and made a fool out of herself!
She could not answer several "hard" questions from the Mayor…
I hope more people become aware at how this is going to impact Corinth.
They admitted tonight their could be up to 20 wells on the Lake Sharon site and would not really answer when asked about a compressor….
So how is fooling who …here..
1 chance in 1 is too many for me….
We all need to spread the word and get united against this so maybe just maybe we can stop this is this peaceful quiet residential area!!
There is a protested lease hearing in Austin…and if they rule in favor of the drilling we just may not be able to stop this…
Speak up and loud everyone!!

With 20 wells, you'll have lots of compressors and lots of other infrastructure they haven't yet mentioned.

Well let's see…800,000 people in Ft. Worth alone so that's 800 dead people. But wait, children are six times more likely to contract AML leukemia from benzene than adults and I am sure TCEQ would not give the numbers for children so…University of Texas School of Public Health did a study in 2008 on children in Houston and benzene exposure from the petrochemical industry around the Ship Channel. Not pretty.

Ahhhhhh one neglected comment from the "liar" from XTO mentioned and I haven't heard to many ppl comment on is the fact that they are working on getting a lease in place to the north of the present site…which would bring it right up to the Golf Course…so that tells me that they have a lot of plans for this Lake Sharon site!!
There was a lot of side stepping at this meeting on Thursday…I hope ppl understand and take action NOW..tomorrow will be to late!!
