Fracking News

Barnett Shale in Wall Street Journal

Gas Sites Spur Air Worries
Fort Worth, Texas, Officials Rethink Their Longtime Support for the Industry

Cliff Notes:

  • Moncrief pretends to be concerned, but not enough to slow down drilling.
  • Summary of recent air testing results.
  • Michael Honeycutt, TCEQ toxicology division, seems genuinely concerned but only for city folks.
  • CHK, says people are overreacting to the study.

Erm, I just want to remind you that if it’s not okay for city folks, it’s not okay for country folks. The same rules need to apply to all areas of the shale.

Hi. I am a senior at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. I am doing a presentation on bioremediation of hydrocarbon pollution and ran across your pictures from "DISTURBING: Domestic Drilling Pollution Pictures" on Daily Kos. I would really appreciate your permission to use them in my presentation.

    Please contact me at k.marie034@rocketmail.com.

    Thank you in advance.

"The state study said the emissions were caused by mechanical problems that were quickly addressed."

Umm, what issues were fixed? I thought nothing had changed.

Another study I'd like to see is how many people who work for the gas drilling companys are getting sick or dieing from this chemical exposure.
My husband died of lung cancer in 2008 after working for Frac Tech hauling their chemical riden sand.
I was told by his supervisor that my husbands death made 3 in 8 months, including the guy he tooks place and truck, who also died of lung cancer 6 months earlier.
    Seems kinda suspect to me…

I think industry workers are horribly mistreated. Some that I know have to go inside the tanker trucks and clean them out without protective gear. If they were hauling flow back that's extremely dangerous.

I see them working those frac rigs without any breathing apparatus.

That's horrible treatment. I would like to do something to help the workers. They are just trying to make a living.

    ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY, TEXAS COMMISSION ON

This award (ARRA-TX-CWA604(b)-WQMP) funds multiple activities in two broad categories – watershed planning and water quality monitoring – which are both authorized under the Clean Water Act, Section 205(j)(2). Watershed plans set the framework for obtaining financial and regulatory commitments to implement measures that restore and protect water quality. Water quality monitoring efforts help determine the nature, extent, and causes of water quality problems.
