Hey Williams Petroleum! The jig is up on your Flower Mound toxic drilling waste dump!

January 15, 2010 By TXsharon

Williams continues to claim they are “good neighbors.”

If your neighbor collected sewage from surrounding communities, stored it in your neighborhood then piped it to another neighborhood would you call that neighborly?

Flower Mound Citizens take Williams to task.

Important information: Questions and answers about Williams FM Waste Water Collection Facility

I get hung up on #2. I know Big Gas can exercise eminent domain for gas pipelines but I was completely unaware they could use eminent domain for toxic waste water.

Here’s a hint folks: If you want to collect the royalties from gas production, fine. Just keep your toxic waste in your own community.

Well, the oil companies are making improvements in their waste water disposal practices. They used to just dump it in the creek.

In Wise County they still do.

I don't think Williams is planning to store their produced water. Instead of having multiple tank batteries at each well, they are going to pipe it to a centralized collection facility. Then from there either pipe or truck it to a authorized disposal facility.

They want to build a huge tank battery in Flower Mound. They plan to install pipelines all over FM to transport this toxic waste to the tank battery. Then, if all goes as Wms plans, they will install more pipelines and transport it to Argyle to the combination disposal well/compressor station.

    That's my understanding

Why would they want to build pipelines all over Flower Mound? And as I understand it, the Argyle injection well has not yet been approved.

Trust me, if this goes through there will be pipelines all through the community and all the way up to Argyle. Williams said so in a recent article. This is not going to be just 10 tank batteries, there has been talk about 30 or 40. This will be a toxic above ground dump. Then they will pipe it to Argyle and put it in the ground at the disposal site. You are right, nothing has been approved yet. But Williams is pushing hard for this. This will be a business for them. They stand to make money offering this to other gas companies and communities. We have asked them to look at on-site recycling and they refuse, citing cost. They don't think people or our precious resources are worth a little extra money.

They want to build pipelines all over Flower Mound because they can. Getting the permit for the injection well is't very difficult. In fact, permits are pretty much rubber stamped and the gas companies know this, so they start work on the likely approval.

I don't understand how by recycling the produced water on site changes the fact that the chemicals are still there.
They haven't gone anywhere, just been separated into a different pile. It seems to me that the best practice would be to reduce the number of tank batteries into the smallest number possible then either truck or pipe the waste water to the disposal site. Also; if you look at a Flower Mound map, all of the production activity is 1or 2 miles west of the more populated areas. Why would they want to put a people line thru Wellington?

In Booger, they dump it into creeks and on the county roads.

They will build pipelines all over Flower Mound. What are they planning to do?
