Barnett Shale drillers should provide toilets for crews

December 31, 2009 By TXsharon

When I posted this video of an oilfield worker urinating on private property, I received emails from all across this country and even from Canada. It seems we have forgotten something in our drilling ordinances and that’s to require industry to provide toilet facilities for their workers. Unbelievably, they frequently do not. In this case the porta-potties were turned on their side and the landowner suspects the contents were dumped into the pit. But the worker could have used the facilities in the camper he was standing urinating in front of.

Several people said they can no longer walk on their property or through the countryside because of all the human feces left by oil and gas workers. I know this sounds unbelievable but I’ve heard it from so many different people now that if only 50% is true it’s still way beyond shocking and entirely unsanitary.

I don’t have a category for this post.

Great, the Country of India claims it's more modern & sanitary after they recently outlawed open defecation along the side of roads. Yet, these drillers push public sanitation back 125 years in the US & Canada by getting cheap/sloppy in this regard.

    Gross.

This would be the 2nd time I have captured these guys on video. I wonder if there would be value in asking for the billing or the manifest for the sewage trucks or the porta potties?

I thought of that when Braden dumped their sewage in the pit but it's not subject to the FOIA.

These people are lazy pigs. This is just another example of the lack of respect the gas industry and their employees
    have for the property owners.

People come on, that is obviously fake dogie poop. At least they are not wasting water flushing the toilet. They should be commended for saving water and being environmentally friendly……

Ahmmm, the picture was added for a visual and has nothing to do with the reality of having oil field workers defecating on your property for days and weeks at a time.

It's unsanitary and disgusting and only someone from industry could defend that practice.

I was only making a joke…….I agree, if it was my property I would kick them off until they had proper facilities. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Then please provide your address. Since you don't mind, we'll send them over to your house.
