Flower Mound Denies Drilling Moratorium

December 18, 2009 By TXsharon

Considering the overwhelming evidence:

  • SMU
  • EDF
  • TCEQ
  • EPA
  • DISH TX
  • The health survey results released yesterday by Texas OGAP: Shale Gas Threatens Human Health

this is a stunning reckless vote by, Dixon, Levenick, and Wallace, 3 members of Flower Mound’s council, .

Flower Mound already has a cancer cluster.

Leukemia in Flower Mound

5 children and 2 adults in the same area have leukemia and they all live or lived within 2 miles of the drilling.

I heard through the Grapevine that Williams and Chesapeake the Barnett Shale Mafia had lawyers there and, at least, 10 Williams employees spoke. Read more…

Flower Mound Council Denies Temporary Suspension of Natural Gas Production

Right now industry is rushing to drill up as much as possible before the TCEQ final results are released. Watch for the drilling permits to come pouring into Flower Mound.

UPDATE: Chris Hawes, WFAA, was there last nigh. HERE’s her report.

The three council members chose money over the health and safety of their residents. Are these people living in a cave. Haven’t they been watching what is going on all around them. When the TCEQ and the EPA take the time to do studies, you know they are concerned and everyone should be. Why not wait just a little bit longer till the test results and recommendations were released One of the council members who denied the suspension has signed a lease with Williams. Conflict of interest?

Those on the Flower Mound Council that voted against a moratorium should be not only ashamed of themselves, they should also be held accountable. These people are elected to serve he best interests of the people and to PROTECT them, not to see how much money they can generate for the city. The evidence is overwhelming, and yet, they still vote to continue to let the poisoning of not only people, but innocent children. I think there needs to be an investigation into what ties, if any, that council members DIXON, LEVENICK and WALLACE have to the gas companies.

well, looky there..less than a minute after I suggested if there was a tie to the gas companies by any of the 3 council members in denial, cmpgirl3 posted (on WFAA.com) at least one of them (so far) has a business deal with the very same gas company in question on the vote. Please let us all know by name who this council member is, and can anyone also verify that this same council member informed at least the other council members, mayor and city manager and city attorney of this conflict of interest

The mayor has gas wells on his property and receives royalties.
