Pipelines in the News

November 27, 2009 By TXsharon

Someone asked me if the following article is about Carter Avenue Pipeline. It is not. It’s another neighborhood in Arlington facing the same issue faced by the Carter Avenue neighbors.

Some in Arlington neighborhood unhappy with pipeline plans

This neighborhood has a website where you can learn more about their situation.

A followup story about the Bushland, Texas pipeline explosion was published at Amarillo.com yesterday.

Reality check people: Every single gas well requires a pipeline.

I was about to buy a beautiful 6 acre place last month. While studying the plat, There was a dotted line indicating a pipeline. Searching everywhere, including the county archives, no information could be found. My broker discovered that it was a very old "Gulf Oil" pipeline, probably from the 1930s that had fallen off the list. No further research shed any light. I would be liable under Texas law if anything bad resulted from that pipeline. This is not right. I canceled the deal with a tear. My broker told me the next buyer won't even ask about it.

Lots of times these abandoned pipelines are left with product in them that leaks out and causes unknown environmental contamination.

    You were very smart.

When I bought my place my real estate agent told me not to waste my money on purchasing the mineral rights because they weren't worth anything. Thankfully, I didn't take her advice. I was able to keep them off my place and my other surface owners.

Real estate agents in Tx are derilect in their duties to the purchasers of property with all this carp on it. They do not tell the buyers what is going on. That is bad.
