Seismic Testing in South Lakes Park in Denton, TX

November 16, 2009 By TXsharon

Aw common. They wouldn’t be doing seismic if they didn’t want to drill there.

Officials say no wells planned at South Lakes Park as crews test land

Although Titan secured city permits to test the ground at South Lakes Park, city officials “certainly have no intention” of allowing a gas well at the park, said Emerson Vorel, Denton’s parks and recreation director. The city has allowed off-site gas drilling under parkland, but there are no active agreements involving South Lakes Park, city officials said.

What this means is they will drill horizontally from somewhere near the park. …your backyard, maybe?

Already, Denton has the highest levels of hydrocarbon toxins in the air of the entire Barnett Shale.

This is a bold faced LIE! Seismic Testing leads to drilling that leads to tanks that lead to gas lines that lead to compressor stations that lead to health problems for the people who have to live nearby- not to mention the CHILDREN who play in that park!

Why are seismic readings being permitted if there is no intention of letting them drill? I can tell you why – First, some cowardly gas company contracts out the seismic readings to get an idea of how much gas they think might be there. Once they get that reading, Pinocchio from the gas company will go to the city council and tell them how much money is going to be pouring in from their cut of the lease, just sign here, folks, it's payday!

Take it from me, and now close to 50 of my neighbors- the gas companies will lie, cheat and steal to get that gas, and they will stall for years on answering hard questions. When you see those 'Eureka' commercials for the 'New Natural Gas' on TV, ask yourself WHY does the gas companies need to market natural gas? Why do they need to sell it to you? It's the New Natural Gas, all right. Gas Companies today are what Big Tobacco was yesterday, and that is no lie.

Seismic testing can do all kinds of damage to water wells, shallower water aquifers, building foundations, etc. Don't let 'em on you land, never. Also, they like the rest of O&G, lie through their teeth. Tell you anything so you think they are good people while, all along, they are ruining you.

    Isn't that the truth!

The only other times I can think of doing seismic testing is to find fault lines, or preparing for a large heavy building. Since the nearest active fault of interest is the Meers fault in Oklahoma, I suspect also it's to actually try to sell gas drilling that area.

And, wait until the fracing work generate more earhtquakes. If any of them are damaging, massive finger pointing WILL follow.
