Sen. Davis Calls for Senate Investation on Barnett Shale Air

November 3, 2009 By TXsharon

Thank you Senator Davis!

Lawmaker calls for action after toxin found at gas operations VIDEO

“It seems as though there are some very serious health concerns that should cause us alarm,” Davis said.

It is not just DISH, TX! If you have been following my coverage of Aruba Petroleum Operations I received this from Christine last night.

I can’t get any further than a mile away. Half the time they have truck containers down by where they flare that let off white “steam” no matter what time of the day it is. This morning my neighbor called me and said she was outside at 6:30 and could smell strong chemicals.

This was in response to my suggestion that they leave the area or stay inside when the wells in her area are flared or vented. The flaring happens regularly out there and they live very close to this compressor station.

Wise County has some of the worst air in the Barnett Shale as evidenced by this video and the recent EDF analysis.

Rural areas are most vulnerable to lax regulations and poor drilling practices because no one is watching. Come take a ride with me through the countryside but BYOGM (Bring your own gas mask).

Update: Even Houston has better air than us.
