I just watched a Denton County Barnett Shale gas well burn up

I was driving home during one of the worst storms of my life when we saw lighting strike straight down to the ground and a big flash of light blasted straight up to the sky. About 3 minutes later we saw a gas well burning so I pulled over and got video.

Since my electricity is off–phone blogging here–I can’t recharge my dead camera battery, so I’ll have to upload the video later. In the meantime, here’s a picture sent to me by a dear friend:
