Chesapeake Energy had a Fracking Chemical Spill in Fort Worth

April 8, 2009 By TXsharon

Does it seem odd that there was no word of this in the Star-Telegram?

Apparently Chesapeake Energy had a fracking chemical spill, from an email:

A new witness spoke about a significant incident at a CHK site on Henderson recently in which there was a fracking accident that caused a pool of fracking fluid to spread over the entire width of the drilling pad. He showed a photo of it. You could see what appeared to be a white foam on top of the liquid at the center of the spill (if “spill” is an accurate description of what happened). The man said that this foam was a chemical mix placed there by workers who were trying to clean up. Apparently the incident attracted the attention of nearby residents who the man said were frightened. He mentioned that there were children who were frightened. None of us had heard of this incident and were wanting to hear more. But those on the dais sat silent and stone-faced and made no response. The man said it was time to stop the drilling and ask some serious questions. Ho Hum! Stone-faced silence. Moncrief warned this man about his reference to CHK during his three minutes and said he’d better not disobey the speaking rules.

Hello? Doesn’t Fort Worth have a news paper?

developing…

UPDATE: Here’s the link (link fixed). His testimony starts at 2:26:19.

“People were scared to death.”

They was bullied.

…spillage from one side of the property to the other.

There has been no investigation…

When it comes to the bad news about O&G activities–EVERYONE IS SILENT–DEATHLY SILENT!!! That's the way it works. In these cases, NOBODY talks!! Go home an shut up!!

I will be very interested in finding out more about this accident. Do follow up! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Chesapeake is planning to drill the h-e-double tooth picks out of Bradford County, PA, next. So we are paying attention to what TX is experiencing. We want to know!

Since I couldn’t access the video of the city council meeting, would there be a way to send the salient points made by the citizens who spoke? Or I can wait until the transcript becomes available. I’m so anxious to hear what was said! Any sign of news coverage yet?

Chemical spill cleanup crews in Trinity River downtown Fort Worth, very close to Henderson well, any relation to this leaked frak?

    Happening now?

I don’t know. We were never able to obtain any additional information about this alleged spill. The emergency responders said they could not respond to these spills because they do not know what chemicals are used since it’s all kept a big secret. DISTURBING!

Yes, happening now and has been all week. Large equipment, tanker trucks and pumps placed along river close to Henderson well. Plus a new well is even closer to the cleanup operation.

Maybe they are preparing for the frack. If they haven’t fracked this well yet, that’s probably what they’re doing. Get your camera ready.
