More Drilling Pollution in Marcellus Shale

February 4, 2009 By TXsharon

You will remember the exploding water wells and water wells polluted with production gas in the Marcellus Shale as a result of drilling by Cabot.

Now there has been a spill of 100 gallons of diesel fuel by Cabot.

The spill is the latest in several incidents the DEP has investigated in the area of intensive drilling into the Marcellus Shale along or near Carter Road. Last spring, emergency responders and work crews set up barriers as they contained and vacuumed about 800 gallons of diesel spilled at another Cabot site that threatened a nearby stream.

It’s not the first time. Last summer 800 gallons of diesel fuel spilled into a wetland.
