They Are Fracing a Barnett Shale Gas Well Near Me.

August 24, 2008 By TXsharon

For at least a couple of weeks now, “they” have been fracing a Barnett Shale well near me. I”m not being too overly dramatic when I say that the mess, noise, diesel fumes boiling into the air, and the thought of the millions of gallons of water laced with toxic chemicals being pumped under ground has had my will to live at low ebb. Fracing fluid was exempt from the Safe Drinking Water Act by the 2005 Republican dominated Congress, at the urging of Dick Cheney, making the oil and gas industry the only industry in the US that can legally pump poisonous chemicals into our drinking water.

Almost every day last week, there were about 20 trucks lined up on the muddy county road waiting to get into the drilling site. The roads are a rutted mess now.

I couldn’t even find the will to keep a photographic record but I did take a couple of pictures with my cell phone.

THIS IS THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR THE PRIVILEGE TO DRIVE A CAR AND TO BE PART OF THE CONSUMER SOCIETY. YOU ARE JUST SEEING ONE PART OF THE PROCESS. BUT THE PROCESS GOES ON ALL THE TIME IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER AND EVERYONE DEALS WITH IT WHEN THEY COME IN CONTACT WITH IT. JUST CHILL OUT OR TURN YOUR CAR IN AND GO SIT IN A TREE..

I hate to break it to you but not many cars in the US run on natural gas. Natural gas is not the same thing as crude oil and there is very little overlap between the two.

Another point: This is not the way it has to be! They can do a better job of protecting our environment and it’s affordable. People with your attitude enable them.

    Ignorance is no excuse.

TX Sharon has every right to be concerned.Fracing has poisoned ground water all over the country.Thank you Halliburton and Cheney. Its is all about the money with these guys.I live in Dallas.Everyday there is another rig going up.I never thought to much of it.You always here how natural gas is the "clean energy".Just because Tommy Lee Jones says it is a good thing, doesn't make it so.I just had my buddy from Colorado call me.He told me to watch a documentary that is on HBO.Its called Gasland.Maybe the last person that commented should watch it.The info is all legit. There are safer ways to drill, they just cost more.Thats a price that should be paid.In all reality,we can live without the gas.We cant survive without water.
