Fracking News

It’s a bump not a surge

January 5, 2007 By TXsharon

According to CBS via Think Progress, the military only has 9,000 more troops to send.

A State Department official leaked word this week that President Bush is considering sending “no more than 15,000 to 20,000 U.S. troops” to Iraq. “Instead of a surge, it is a bump,” the official said.

There are serious problems in the military these days. You can’t continually redeploy the same trooops…4 years into this and many are on a 4th tour?!

and in the grand scheme of things, what are 20k troops going to prove? NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING. We have 150,000 troops over there and the supposed unorganized INSURGENTS are kicking the butt of the supposed strongest and toughest military in the world…

But as long as the government continues the way they are, we will be sending more and more troops, we can only hope that VA funding will increase vs. the decreases that have occurred since this madness.

there is an insidious little action happening in the military that few know.

the military is immediately recalling those who have finished their stints and choose to leave and they are not being recalled to their former service.

i have several close friends who are linguists, trained at the defense language institute of monterey.

one young man, a chinese specialist, told me of a sgt. who left after his designated service (also chinese linguist) and was, within months, called up from the ready reserves.

he was called up into the ARMY! he is now on the ground in iraq.

we invested so much time and energy as a nation to have linguists serve our national security, but if those linguists choose to leave the military, they – under bush – become more cannon fodder!

we also now have f-16 pilots on the ground in iraq – after millions spent to train them. this, from a caller this morning to c-span – a mother whose son is an f-16 pilot based in san diego – she spoke of the two pilots now doing ground duty and asked why.

her question should be asked of EVERY member of congress and it should be asked now!

our military is severly broken – and our national security is severly at risk – and for what?

    bush’s ego.
