There Is a Political Solution to All Our Pollution

October 1, 2009 By TXsharon

There is no question about it, Texas needs help! Our governor has stacked Texas regulatory agencies with industry apologists who’s qualifications include poultry science and interior design. As a result, honest, hard-working Texans are suffering:

Natural Gas Development Brings “Amazing” Levels of Carcinogens to DISH, Texas

This news about DISH, Texas, formerly named Clark, Texas, comes on the heels of Perry’s appointment of a global warming denier as the top environmental official in the state.

Governor Rick Perry of Texas Pokes The Eye of the Federal EPA and Appoints a Climate Change Denier to be the State’s Top Environmental Official

Immediately, Perry’s new appointee announced, in a Dallas Morning News opinion piece, that Texas air is improved.

Texas emits more green house gasses than any other state and our air ranks among the worst in the nation and a big old heaping helping of bad gas and hot air is coming out of our governor’s office. Here are some highlights lowlights from a fact sheet on the shame of Texas. (More fact sheets are on the way.)

Texas can set an example to the rest of the county on how not to do things:

* Texas ranks 7th in among the states in the percent of our children living in poverty.
* Texas ranks 3d among the state in terms of the percentage of our population living below the Federal Poverty Level.
* Texas ranks 3rd among the nation in terms of the percent of our population with food insecurity.
* Texas ranks third in the nation in terms of the percent of women in our population living in poverty.

We do have a choice.
