Driving U.S. 380: Living on the edge

December 2, 2007 By TXsharon

Another fatal accident on U.S. 380 one of the most dangerous highways in the US and the route that takes me from my house to Denton unless I take the back roads which I often do.

Twice last year I was almost run over by rock hauling trucks. One time the truck rushed at my car from behind, rapidly accelerating until it was within a few feet of touching my bumper while blowing his horn. I was driving slightly over the speed limit. There was nowhere to pull over. After several times of the truck nearly running over me, I swerved onto the shoulder and he blew past me but not before my son wrote down his license number. I called the Decatur Police department but I never heard another word.

The other time, I called the company that owned the trucks (it was the same company both times).
