While banning fracking in Hawaii is a really good thing, the really bad thing is that more than 80% of electricity is generated through diesel powered generators.

    Excellent news. Good for Hawaii.

Here in Alberta, they’re going for a different look in the area around Calgary, and have decided to replace our palm trees and sandy beaches with “industrial pathways.”

I hear toxic tourism is really taking off.

This might not be as big of a deal is it apparently seems. There is no oil or gas production in Hawaii.

No. And now there never will be.

There never will be because they are volcanic islands.

Hope everyone has been following the blowback following Quebec’s fracking ban. It shows the perils of free trade–as revealed in the lawsuit filed, governments can be prevented from pursuing “reasonable” environmental protections due to trade agreements. We have another one of those pending–the Trans Pacific Partnership, and it’s on fast-track right now, due to be passed out tomorrow, Wednesday the 30th, without hearing or examination or any real inquiry by Congress. Fort Worth Congressman Marc Veasey has so far refused to sign the DeLauro Miller letter against fast-track, but we really, really need him to do that. The agreement will also help with markets for LNG, and that means more dangerous LNG production and a clear path for gas exportation. PLEASE call Marc Veasey’s office and ask him to sign the DeLauro Miller letter–NOW–202- 225-9897. Let’s all work together to end this threat to our own regulations and rules.

I called. Deborah Rogers has warned about the trade agreement to export LNG and look want happened in the Netherlands where severe earthquakes from fracking damage homes but must continue because of these agreements.
