A conundrum for the Big Gas Mafia

September 9, 2011 By TXsharon

Natural gas is

  • clean
  • cheap
  • plentiful NOT so much

Okay, so, natural gas is cheap. It’s so cheap that the drillers are losing money.

A potential turning point for natural gas

” …balance sheet positions on  the whole are in mediocre shape with 2012E debt to cash flows at approximately 1.5 times assuming average $4.50/mcf gas prices.”

The only hope for the Big Gas Mafia is to finagle a way to increase demand and drive prices up.

But, if prices go up, then natural gas is:

  • clean
  • cheap
  • plentiful NOT so much

I heard one of the frackers actually using the low price of gas as a way of selling fracking-he said that the more they drill, the more gas-‘Supply’ there is, and people, especially in the northeast who use gas for heat-the ‘demand’ will actually pay less for gas beacuse there’s more of it. So get out there and drill!
