This is the sort of logic I hear all the time in Texas. It appears that it has not occurred to this person, or indeed to a great many people in Texas, that NATURE IS MONEY. Without NATURE, there are no hydrocarbons, there are no plastics or paper products or FOOD or ENERGY or SHELTER. This ALL comes from NATURE. In other words, GENIUS, there is NO MONEY without NATURE.
