Unfortunate benzene metaphor on BSEEC

June 15, 2010 By TXsharon

Something tells me they didn’t think this one through, especially with the explosion of bad news recently.

Okay, let’s talk about blow things out of proportion. Some clever artist has a different, more appropriate metaphor.

About Sharon Wilson

Sharon Wilson is considered a leading citizen expert on the impacts of shale oil and gas extraction. She is the go-to person whether it’s top EPA officials from D.C., national and international news networks, or residents facing the shock of eminent domain and the devastating environmental effects of natural gas development in their backyards.

Isn't benzene like lead any amount is bad for you? Weather it causes cancer in 1 in 100 or 1 in 100,000 you don't want to be the 1?

Cancer could be caused by eating food treated with chemicals shipped in from China and Mexico!

Yes, there are many sources of cancer causing chemicals in our environment. That's why, when we can avoid being exposed to cancer causing chemicals, we need to take every precaution to limit exposure.

Vapor recovery devices cost $60,000 and the cost is recovered in captured product. Oil and gas operators are being irresponsible and exposing the public to chemicals unnecessarily.
