VIDEO: CHK Chesapeake Energy gas wells leak and contaminate Barnett Shale air

January 14, 2012 By TXsharon

Calvin Tillman, former mayor of Dish, Texas is uploading some TCEQ infrared videos on his blog that show emissions from Chesapeake Energy facilities in the Barnett Shale.

This is not unique. Expect it. This is why vapor recovery units should be required on all wells. Oh, and when Ed Ireland says they can’t use VRU because the gas is dry–it’s not necessarily true–just know that he says that no matter what. That’s what he told the Denton Drilling Task Force and Denton has the highest VOCs in the Barnett Shale. Ireland claims VRU won’t work where the gas is dry. If that is true, industry needs to innovate or get out!
